Week 6 Update

This week, we finally presented for our VIVA wearing our formal clothes. We were quite nervous on the day of the presentation due to the atmosphere in the CPD room. Everyone was very nervous and doing some last minute practices before the actual presentation. However, despite the nerves, we managed to pull through, even getting compliments from the lecturers on how our presentation was very clear and well-spoken! This was quite the confidence booster for us and now we are more motivated than ever to finish our prototype.
We managed to get some very constructive feedback from the various lecturers such as how we should make sure that the augmented reality does not affect the main purpose of our application which is to educate on road safety and the rules of the Singapore roads.

Here's to the weeks ahead and hopefully we will be able to impress the lecturers again during our next VIVA presentation.

This is our meeting minutes and meeting agenda for Week 6:

Week 5 Update

We didn't accomplish much as a team this week as the other modules assignments were piling up, so we were very busy with our own work. We did however, had our mock-up viva presentation on 21st of May to prepare us for the real one and to get feedback on what to change and improve on.

We received good constructive feedback on what to work on. We will have to work on them as soon as possible as our actual viva presentation is on next Tuesday. Hopefully the things needed to be change will done before then.

We still are holding regular meeting for our team to make sure things are somewhat on schedule. Our meeting minutes are being updated weekly. Here is the link: https://goo.gl/Ump1jK

Week 4 Update

For this week, we have completed the wireframe for almost all the pages of the app. We have also come up with the design of the game. This week, we have also started using shotgun for our scrum and sprints to keep track of all our tasks.

This week we have not been as productive as we should have and some things have run a little late.
Our viva presentation slides have not been fully completed and our communication plan has yet to be done, but we feel that we have done quite a lot of work this week. We hope that we can continue with high efficiency and always complete work on time.

Week 3 Update

For the third week in our venture to create an amazing road safety app, we presented our final idea SGroads to Ms Dai. We have received constructive criticism and look forward to beginning our project.

Mock-up of augmented reality
As you can see, we have done a visualisation of how our application's augmented reality will work with QR codes. We have also finalised our logo design.

Final logo design

With Ms Dai's suggestions we have decided that for our augmented reality, it would be more fun and interactive if we were to use cards instead of QR codes. This will allow our consumers to collect cards and that will all the more add to the fun of our app. We have also designed wireframes for our app.

We have aimed for a more simplistic design as it makes it look sleek and professional. We would also not want our consumers to be too distracted from the main function of our app which is to teach road safety and rules in a fun, interactive manner. As for the First Person View, we will be trying to implement the usage of the gyroscope in smartphones and tablets to turn the head.

Finally, through competitive analysis, we have managed to gather the good points of other augmented reality apps before us and avoided their mistakes as well. We will be adding more information and visuals to our presentations and be prepared for VIVA in the next 2 weeks.
