Week 17 Update

This week, we have basically been preparing for our Final VIVA presentation next Monday. Firstly we consulted our lecturer Ms Dai once again during the week to see if any new features were to be implemented into our application before the Final VIVA presentation. From the feedback that we received, we seem to be pretty much ready for the Final VIVA as we have implemented the select language page as well into the app, although it does not do anything at the moment as we have not done the translated versions of the content yet. Ms Dai has also asked if we are able to showcase the mini game during the VIVA but due to time constraints we are unable to.

All in all, we feel that we are ready for the Final VIVA presentation and all that is left is to practice our presentation and hopefully, we will not choke during the actual presentation.

Week 16 Update

This week we did quite a considerable amount of progress for our application. As the deadlines are approaching we decided to try our best to step up on the production and development of the application. More pages has been design and are to be implemented into our application. This will further make our application near complete. Our final viva slides has also been further enhance to improve the quality of our presentation.

There is still a few final changes need to be done. This is to further improve the quality of our presentation and application for the final presentation. Hopefully we can work fast enough to fulfil the needs of the lecturer to get our project green lit.

Week 15 Update

We have presented out app to the class and there seems to be no negative response. We have also successfully put our app in our mobile phone to test it as a prototype. Although there are some kinks in the app to be ironed out, it is mostly done.

We have also prepared the slides to be used in the final presentation and some adjustments will be made to the errors pointed out in the slides during the class presentation.

The screenshots below show how the app looks like when in the mobile phone and the progress so far.

Week 14 Update

We presented our progress again this week. We have implemented our profile page, leader board page and chapter 1 content page. Our leader board is not yet completed as well as our quiz page. We will be looking to finish it up soon and start to work on our others page. We received some good tips on preparing for our final VIVA.

We were advised to make our quiz button with more padding so as to differentiate from the titles and not confuse the user.

We were also advised to implement profile picture editing but we will have to see if we have sufficient time for it. This will be located in our others so we will work on that first.

Others

We have also decided not to implement the language options for our Final VIVA presentation. The lecturers feel that it is redundant for the presentation. We have also finalised our chapter names as advised by Ms Dai and are going to implement them ASAP.

Hopefully we will be able to finish up our prototype in time for our Final VIVA presentation.

Week 13 Update

After getting some good feedback last week from our lecturers we decided to move on from implementing chapters and quizzes to implementing other aspect of our application. This is because we believe with the stuff we have put into our contents for chapters and quizzes are already workable and are also sufficient enough to present during our final viva. With that our members immediately started on working on the other pages of the application. Syafiq, our designer started working on our profile page. He corrected its measurements and some errors on the wireframe. He then passed it over to Chuan Jing, our programmer to implement it.

Below are screen shots of our prototype application so far. There is also a playable video showing how the application works. As show, we have made quite the progress but still we are somewhat lacking behind as there are still missing functionalities. We will continue working on it and hopefully meet the required deadline.

Week 12 Update

This week we have completed the layout of the app for the home page for the two main pages. We will be temporarily using placeholder images as the the images to be put into the page of each chapter are being finalized. We have also added more content and updated the parts of the wireframe of the app to a more finished state.

The app is now able to make use of the swipe function to navigate through the two pages.

Responsive app with swipe capabilities

We have also received some feedback to make some changes to the chapter images, such as adding a small description to say what each chapter is about. We were also given some advice on how much to complete for the prototype.

Week 11 Update

This week we continued on our progress for the application. So far, we have created a responsive site for the app and it's looking pretty good. We will be adding in the content soon and on top of that, we have also done the quiz for our second chapter consisting mostly of road signs and their meanings. This should be a more interesting chapter due to the inclusion of pictures and more colours in the quiz.
Some questions from the quiz

We also learned received some quality feedback from our lecturers informing us that our application is quite easily marketable. We will have to start contacting companies like the Traffic Police Authority or the Land Transport Authority to see if they will be interested in investing or purchasing the application for their use. Hopefully they will be interested and we can actually make some money off of this.

We are gonna have to also accommodate for the non-english speaking citizens of Singapore by adding in a language selection. I am gonna have to type out another copy of our content but in a different language. In summary, we are gonna have to start contacting some companies, ensure we will be able to sell our idea with our presentation, continue improving our application and keep to our time schedules.
